The High Window

The High Window - Raymond Chandler Philip Marlowe investigates a lost rare coin from a collection and gets into a bigger scheme of things which included blackmail and murders. Raymond Chandler masterpiece with plenty of his usual metaphors, tough-guy dialogues and interesting plot. An enjoyable read.

The Five Red Herrings

The Five Red Herrings - Dorothy L. Sayers Not one of my favourite Peter Wimsey novel.

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion - Robert B. Cialdini One of the best books on Behavioural Psychology explaining the effects of Authority, Reciprocity, Liking, etc with practical examples.

Midnight's Children

Midnight's Children - Salman Rushdie Great prose. Quite a dramatic plot and enjoyable throughout.

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl

The Diary of a Young Girl - B.M. Mooyaart, Eleanor Roosevelt, Anne Frank Wonderful innocent account of the trials and tribulations of a young Jewish girl in Nazi occupied Amsterdam. Touching story

Death in Holy Orders

Death in Holy Orders - P.D. James Another engrossing P D James mystery. I liked it.

A Certain Justice

A Certain Justice - P.D. James Typical P D James mystery. I liked it.

The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway My first Hemingway. I didn't understand much of the intricate details of fishing and equipments but the story was nice and very simply put. I would definitely read more of Hemingway in future.

Knots and Crosses (Detective John Rebus Novels)

Knots and Crosses - Ian Rankin First one in the Inspector Rebus series. The plot was not that great. The book attempted to establish the family and character of Rebus instead of concentrating on the mystery. I hope the other books in the series fill that gap.

Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia

Eat, Pray, Love - Elizabeth Gilbert Nice memoir cum travelogue of a divorced lady trying to overcome depression by visiting Italy, India and Bali in Indonesia. Partly funny, partly spiritual but mostly honest. Good read.

Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking

Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking - Typical Gladwell read. The book is about making snap judgments by recognising patterns. It is full of examples and is an easy read just like his other books.

In the Teeth of the Evidence (A Lord Peter Wimsey Mystery)

In the Teeth of the Evidence - Dorothy L. Sayers Good read. I particularly liked the stories not involving Wimsey and Egg.

Forgotten Continent: The Battle for Latin America's Soul

Forgotten Continent: The Battle for Latin America's Soul - Michael Reid Good book about the history and problems faced in Latin America. A bit heavy of Statistics but it gave a good overview of the region.

Original Sin (Adam Dalgliesh Mystery Series #9)

Original Sin - P.D. James Wonderful plot. I liked it.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Book 2)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - J.K. Rowling No less exciting and entertaining as the first one.

The God of Small Things

The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy Nicely written. Except from the political overtone at few places, I liked the book and the story and how it goes from Past to Present and then again back.
